Things Growing In Sine Waves

The animation on the homepage of the site is something I’ve been working on for the last few months in flash.

It uses sign waves amplified by random noise to simulate the growth pattern of leaves and shoots. I think it looks similar to the way that some ferns unravel and grow.  I think it looks really organic.  It’s a pleasant surprise when machines do that.
